Indian kachumber salad also called as cucumber-tomato-onion salad is a refreshing combination of some freshly chopped vegetables and a few Indian herbs and spices. A perfect summer salad. Which is light, easy-to-make and goes perfectly with all Indian meals.
This cucumber-tomato-onion salad is the only thing I eat almost every day. I just love the crunch, freshness, and flavors of this salad.
Indian Kachumber Salad
Kachumber salad is the basic regular Indian salad made with fresh cucumber, tomato, and onion. Fresh radish and carrot can also be used when they are in season. It is usually served in lunch and dinner as a side dish.
How to make Indian Kachumber Salad
Here to make this along with cucumber, tomato, onion, I have used some coriander leaves and green chili. And for tossing, I have used lime juice, black salt/rock salt, and roasted cumin powder.
I love cucumber with the skin. If you don’t like you can peel them. Skip green chili if making this for children.
This salad tastes best when served immediately but in case you want to make it in advance, you can chop the veggies and keep in the refrigerator. Just before serving add all the herbs and spices and toss.
Vegetables: Fresh radish and carrot can also be used.
Herbs: Some fresh mint leaves can be added.
Spices: Chat masala powder and roasted coriander powder can be used. Black salt can be replaced by salt and Green chili can be replaced by red chili powder or crushed black pepper.
